Symptom
When installing the 32-bit/64-bit version of ForecastX on a 32-bit/64-bit Excel you receive the following message:
“This version only works with Excel 32bit/64bit”
Solution
Solution A
Please make sure that the Excel Version (32 bits - 64 bits) matches with the Forecast X version you are trying to install.
In order to verify this:
- Open Excel
- Go to File > Account > Click on About Excel
- The last portion of the version description will show you the Excel version (32 - 64 bits)
Note. A 64-bits Windows Operative System can install a 32-bits version of Excel.
Solution B (mostly common for personal devices)
Most computers with Windows come with a demo/lite version of the Office that miss many of the main structural components of a full version. In order to confirm this, it is necessary to check on your program files folders the presence of the Microsoft Office folder.
Without Office:
With Office:
In case that you do possess a demo/lite version, please uninstall it and install a full version in order to be able to install the forecastx. Link: outlook.office365.com
Solution C
In case that you were able to find the directory folders shown in the Solution B, but you still are not able to install Forecast X because the error message "This version only works with Excel 32bit/64bit” is still showing, you'll have to validate if the Office 365 version you have is locally installed into your computer.
To verify that:
- Click Start > Control Panel. Click Programs > Programs and Features:
If you can't visualize your Office version, it means you have an online Office version. This particular version conflicts with Forecast X.

Solution D
You or someone from your IT Dept will need to carry out the following:
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following location and enter a new Key named Bitness: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook
- If Outlook is missing, right-click on 15.0 and select New > Key.
- Name the new key Outlook.
- Right-click the Outlook key and select New > String Value.
- Name the new String Value Bitness.
- Double-click the Bitness string and in Value data, enter x86.
